Paul Rodgers

April 24, 1936 — June 27, 2023

Paul Lee Rodgers passed away after complications from a fall on June 27, 2023. He was 87. Paul is survived by his wife, Jill Grotegut Rodgers and three children - Judy and Steven Knittle (Las Vegas, NV); Jill Ann Harper (Las Vegas, NV); and Paul David and Wendy Rodgers (Tooele, UT). Paul is also survived by his brother Steven D. And Kathleen Rodgers (VA), his sister Sharon A. and Dan Turney (TX), and son in law Jeff Cummings (Roy, Utah). He was preceded in death by his parents Paul R. And Mabel S. Rodgers, and a daughter Nancy Lee Cummings.

Paul was born in Virginia, served in the Marine Corps for three years, and educated in Utah at Brigham Young University. He began working for the Boy Scouts of America.

Most of his career was in Quality Control at Hill Air Force Base where he retired in 1990. Paul and his wife, Jill, were married for 65 years. They served two missions in the Washington D.C. Temple, and the Japan, Okinawa Mission. They served as ordinance workers in the Washington D.C., Provo, Utah, and Salt Lake City, Utah temples.

Paul is known as a gentle giant with a twinkle in his eye. He didn't talk a lot. but when he did, it was worth listening to. He is loved by his grandchildren, and a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews. Paul enjoyed the outdoors and made several trips with the canoe he made to Shoshone Lake in Yellowstone National Park.
