Penelope Cochran

Penelope Cochran, beloved mother and grandmother, and long time resident of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2013, in Henderson, Nevada. Penny was born in England on November 13, 1922. She grew up in London, England, where she met her husband, Raymond Cochran during World War II. Raymond predeceased Penny. She is survived by her four children, Clive, Robin, Chris and Kevin, her beloved daughterinlaw Jennifer Cochran, stepson John Cochran, her four grandchildren Alex, Noelle, Robert, and Molly, great granddaughter Riley, and a special friend, Judy Moreland. Penny was a proud member of the Military Order of the World Wars.

Penny called El Paso her home she lived here for 55 years. She was a paralegal and office manager for the law firm of Grambling, Mounce from 1968 until her retirement in 1992. Penny was known by her English family as Ivy and returned to England regularly. She traveled extensively with her American and English families throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Penny was known as a great storyteller and her travels and family were fodder for hilarious sometimes embellished stories. She was inspiring to her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. Penny had a great gift for enjoying life and was well loved by family stateside and in England. She will be deeply missed by her family who are consoled by the fact that she had a long and adventurous life.

Services will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, at 2:00 pm on January 3, 2013 at the West Committal shelter. A reception to celebrate Pennys life will be held shortly after the conclusion of the service at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, 7000 Edgemere, El Paso, Texas. The reception is expected to begin at approximately 3:00 pm.

Penny loved animals. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the local chapter of the ASPCA or the El Paso, Texas Humane Society.
