Raymond L Poirier

Raymond L. Poirier passed away on September 28, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Raymond was born in Lawrence, MA to Yvonne and Armand Poirier on July 28, 1931. Raymond was educated in the Lawrence schools, graduating from Central Catholic High School. He served in the US Army before marrying the former Shirley Pothier in 1955. Raymond raised his family in Salem, NH while working at Rockingham Park serving as the Publicity Director and finally as the General Manager. Raymond moved to Las Vegas in 1990 to work as the Executive Editor for Gaming Today, retiring in 2015.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Albert Poirier of Panama City, FL. Raymond is survived by his wife Shirley, his son Douglas Poirier and his wife Lisa of Las Vegas, daughters Mary Ellen Hannon and her husband Michael of Hampton, NH, Cindy Lamphier and her significant other Mike Keilling of Lakeville, Ohio, Ruth Janvrin and her husband George of Seabrook, NH, and Kathleen Poirier-Goodall and her husband Tim of Auburn, NH. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren including Meghan Poirier, Craig Poirier, Nichole Poirier, Caitlin Hannon, Jillian Hannon, David Lamphier, Chris Lamphier, Miranda Janvrin, Bryan Goodall, Danielle Goodall, and Desheng Goodall. Raymond had one great grandson Miko Poirier, who brought him such great joy during the last year of his life.

A private funeral service at St. Viator’s Catholic Church was held on October 4, 2019. Burial will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Boulder City, NV. Arrangements were made by Davis Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Pebble Creek Hospice and The Bridge at Paradise Valley in Las Vegas. Donations may be made on behalf of Raymond to the Salvation Army.
