Richard Jimenez
Richard Alexander Olivero Jimenez, 23, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away in a Motor Vehicle Collision that occurred on State Highway 157 at Echo Rd the morning of August 22, 2020 at Mt. Charleston, Nevada.
Richard came into the world on a very windy Tuesday morning in Pomona, California. Pomona Valley Hospital is where parents, Ismael & Charlotte Olivero, awaited his arrival. He made his appearance at 12:03am on January 7, 1997, weighing in at 7lbs 11oz.
Richard was Baptized as an infant in the Catholic Faith. Ricardo Rangel and Charlotte Jimenez had the honor of being his Godparents.
Richard started his early education at The Child Development Center, Fairplex, in Pomona, California. His introduction to school was when he started Kindergarten at Upland Elementary. He continued his student career attending Citrus Elementary, Truman Junior High, Alder Middle School, Valley High, then graduating Class of 2005 from Chaparral High School in Las Vegas, NV.
After graduation Richard started his first job at the restaurant Fix in the Bellagio Hotel Casino. His dedication, perseverance, and strong work ethic made him a valuable team member. He acquired a “certain set of skills” that would again make him a fan favorite when he left Fix and planted himself at YOLO’s in Planet Hollywood. All the while meeting people and making friends that would later become family.
Richard loved helping people. His servant heart was evident as he volunteered at our church regularly. HE WAS EVEN A CO-LEADER FOR A MEN’s GROUP AT ONLY 18 YEARS OF AGE! God’s plan for his life was in motion.
Richard never played football or baseball growing up, he wasn’t even a sports fan, he loved video games! He would play whatever game he was interested in at the time until he mastered it. I can remember even as a 3 year old he was very competitive and always had to be Player 1 or he wouldn’t play. He played to win, always, and if he didn’t his opponent would be stuck playing until he did, then he was done. When he would be playing by himself and lost or did something he thought was stupid he would stomp his feet, grunt and sometimes throw the remote control. Our family jokingly describes him as a bad loser and an even worse winner. This was him all the way up until the day he passed away. He loved a challenge and lived to prove naysayers wrong. Richard's will was his way because it was always aligned with God’s plan.
I don’t know what the average 23 year old does for fun or even what they like and don’t like, but Richard was not your average 23 year old! He loved Anime, in particular One Piece. It basically is about a boy named Luffy, who dreams of one day being “King of the Pirates,” of course through umpteen episodes and seasons he goes through trials, acquires sidekicks, and meets others who become friends, but over time creates such a bond that they would die for each other if required for him to reach his dream. The Japanese word for this is “Nakama.” He named his “Nakama” the Straw Hat Pirates. This ironically fits Richard’s life to a tee. Richard’s “Nakama” was dubbed the All Hat Pirates. Besides video games, and Anime, Richard also collected Funko Pops. His collection is ridiculously AMAZING! I joked with him that selling them off would most definitely give him a down payment for a house someday, to which he replied with a smirk, “Momma they will have their own room in my house someday!” This kid...He also was a HUGE fan of Dr Who, and the Transformers. Little secret, he has a Funko Pop of Optimus Prime signed by the voice himself Peter Cullen!
Richard is preceded in death by his Maternal Uncles, Jesus D. Jimenez and Charles J. Jimenez.
Richard is survived by older brother Jose Armando Olivero and niece Zeruiah Wednesdae Olivero both of California; younger brothers Ismael Christian Olivero-Jimenez & Noah Oscar Olivero, sister Maya Perla Irene Olivero, and parents Ismael & Charlotte Olivero; Grandmothers Charlotte I. Jimenez and Rosa Maria Olivero; Aunts Rosanna R.R. Jimenez, Marielena A. Olivero and Myra Torres; Uncle Oscar A. Olivero; Cousins Alexandra, Alize, Fehr, Itzel, Yari and Oscar Jr, all of Las Vegas.
Of course I could never live with myself if I didn’t give an extra special SHOUTOUT to his girlfriend, Jazmin Perez and the Perez Family; Best Friend Daniel Gallo and the Gallo Family, and of course the members of his Straw Hat Pirates Crew and their families! You all are so special to us, WE LOVE YOU ALL!
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 10:00am, Central Church, 1001 New Beginnings Dr, Henderson, NV.
The family of Richard Jimenez wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Central Church, all of our Central Family, Davis Funeral Home, the Brothers of the Shield Foundation, and the Straw Hat Pirates and their families for all their love and support, WE ARE TRULY BLESSED!
