Robert (Bob) Wooley, age 70, of Henderson, passed away on February 4, 2021 in Henderson, NV. Robert was born in Coral Gables, FL to Stuart and Mary Iris Wooley on April 8, 1950.
Bob, or “Bobby”, as he was known by those close to him, was a talented musician and shared his gifts with audiences around the world. He toured with various bands as a keyboardist and synthesist in the 1970s and 80s. Some bands he toured with were Peach, Paul Revere and The Raiders, and Tom Jones. He also performed as a local entertainer and solo act, singing and playing as a “lounge lizard” through the 1990s in Reno and Las Vegas, NV. Bob also volunteered his time and musical abilities to Central Christian Church, where he played keyboards, organ, and piano in the main service for many years. He spent many hours practicing and sharing his faith with others at Central’s Henderson Campus. Bob also had a successful career as a salesman. He placed several times as a top grossing associate nationally in the workplace. He sold water treatment systems through companies RainSoft and H2O to Go during southern Nevada’s booming growth in the 1990s and 2000’s. Bob used his musical expertise in any way he could, even through his sales work, writing catchy jingles and songs for his employers. Bob also wrote “The Henderson Song,” a piece about how much he loved the city of Henderson, NV and raising his two daughters there. The song was recognized by The Henderson Chamber of Commerce as the official city song for several years.
Bob took pride in raising his two daughters. He was active in their lives offering support in their schooling and extra-curricular activities. He encouraged his daughters to be active members of the church and local community. Bob also took many memorable family vacations with his daughters, guiding them through unique experiences to broaden their knowledge and share the beauty of the natural world. Some trips were also shared with the family dog, as Bob was an animal lover. He was proud of his daughters and they loved him very much. He will be deeply missed.
Bob is preceded in death by his mother Mary Iris Dennis, his father Stuart Wooley, and brother Thor Wooley.
Bob is survived by daughters Meagan Wooley and Maranda Wooley-Hicks, their mother Lanis Wooley, his brother Val Wooley, his sisters Denise Wilsey and Tina Wooley-Brooks, and his sons-in-law Christopher Woolford and Kevin Hicks.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11AM Thursday April 8th, 2021 at Central Christian Church on what would have been Bob’s 71st birthday. The service will be officiated by Pastor Mike Ellingsen of Central Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made in Bob’s name to keepmemoryalive.org which supports Cleveland Clinic Nevada.
