He was born on November 14, 1941 in Ada Oklahoma. His mother Ollie Wilcox Calvert and Father Robert David Calvert from Ada Ok. are deceased. He had a brother David Michael Calvert (deceased). Survived by Alice Sue Calvert (wife of David); sister, Linda Jean Calvert Peterson with husband, David Lee Peterson; niece - Robin Calvert Frizzell; nephews - David Keith Calvert, Christopher Zane Calvert, Sean David Gray Peterson, Michael Lee Peterson. He had 8 grand nephews and nieces.

Rod graduated Ada High School, East Central State College (BA in Education), and Northern Arizona University (MA in Education)

He loved cars and while still in high school he bought a used red Jaguar, which he restored mostly by himself. He also loved to go fishing with his father in his off time in the summer.

He moved to Las Vegas after graduating East Central State College and taught English for 3 years in Junior high school and then became a counselor at Valley High School. He retired in 1997 as Dean of Students at Valley High School. After retiring he moved to Sun Anthem in Henderson, Nv. and lived there until his health started failing. He died January 9, 2021.
