Ronald S. Palmer, 71.
Former resident of Sunnyvale, CA, 71, died Oct. 21, 2013, at his home in Henderson, NV. Mr. Palmer was born Dec. 9, 1941, in Wenatchee, WA, to Lawrence and Mary Palmer. He graduated in 1959 from Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland, OR. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1963 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. An officer in the Army, he served in Korea from 1963 to 1965. He came to San Jose, CA in 1965, to work as an electrical engineer for IBM for 17 years. In addition to his work as an electrical engineer, he was an ingenious investor and entrepreneur, starting a company that manufactured the first fluid orthotic. His lifelong passion was flying. He obtained a general aviation license in 1995 and continued to fly until the end of his life 18 years. Mr. Palmer was a member of the AOPA, volunteered for the FIRST Robotics Competition in Las Vegas, and contributed to the Nevada Civil Air Patrol as a volunteer pilot. He is survived by his wife, Lan Palmer of Henderson, NV his daughter and soninlaw Valerie and Dylan Tran of San Jose, CA his son and daughterinlaw Tuan and Jennifer Palmer of San Jose, CA and his daughter Claire Palmer of Mountain View, CA his grandchildren, Arthur and Angelina Tran, and Gavin and Sebastian Palmer of San Jose, CA sister Ellen Kindsvater of Oceanside, CA and brother Phil Palmer of Beaverton, OR.
