Ron S. Gifford passed away August 14, 2011, at the age of 68. Born April 16, 1943, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Sheldon and Myrtle Gifford.
He served a mission from 19621964, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints to the Southern States Mission. Ron was honorably discharged from the United States Army after having served his country for six years.
He married Carol Ann Mohler on September 23, 1967, in the St. George Temple for time and eternity.
He started his training as an electrician working for his father at Gifford Electric, leading into a career in electrical construction and contracting. He founded Las Vegas Electric in 1989 with his brother Kerry. Ron was an Eagle Scout and served throughout his life as a Scout leader. He loved hiking, camping, and snowmobiling. Whether it was a major project at work or an improvement at home, Ron had a unique talent for designing and building almost anything. Ron loved cheering on the Runnin Rebels with his sons and close friend of many years, Lorry Earl. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and loved. Ron spent his life helping others, and he loved serving in His Church.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife Carol, his daughter Ronda, son Ryan Mary, grandsons Jacob, James, Peter, Nathan, Will son Daniel Michelle, grandchildren Tyler, Trevor, Savanna, Claire son Jason Natalie, grandchildren Sydney, Carson brothers Don, Kerry sisters Myrna Egbert, Jamie Stringham and many nieces and nephews, all of whom love him dearly.
Friends and family are welcome at a viewing on Thursday, August 18, from 79 PM, and the funeral service on Friday, August 19, at 12 PM, both at the LDS church building at Tropicana and Burnham. Interment will be at Davis Memorial Park.
