Roxy Ann Stutzman, 81, of Las Vegas, was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
She was born in Jennings, Kansas to Agnes and Shirley “Jiggs” Bell on January 27, 1938. She was raised in Santa Maria, California graduating from Santa Maria High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Santa Barbara and completed her masters at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She taught 7th grade reading for 30 years in the Clark County School District. Most of her teaching took place at Burkholder Middle School in Henderson, NV. She was honored with receiving the Nevada Teacher of the Year award.
She published the Alphabet Kingdom which was used by several schools around the country to teach pronunciation. She had a special place in her heart for education.
Roxy is proceeded in death by her parents and husband, Paul David Stutzman. She is survived by her three sons Clay (Jamie), Ral (Katie) and Rhett(Julie)Vertrees and Sister, Trica (Jim) Cowles; cousin Linda Titsworth, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorial graveside services will be held Friday, October 4, 2019, at 10:00 am at Davis Funeral Home 6200 S Eastern Ave. Las Vegas NV 89119.
The family of Roxy wishes to extend sincere thanks to Linda Titsworth, Tricia and Jim Cowles, Gae and Jerry Monoghan, and Dixie and Wayne Allen. All incredible people whose thoughtfulness and caring support helped Roxy through the last few years. In addition, we want to thank the caretakers at Livingston Group Home.
