Roy J. Williams, 93 of Las Vegas went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2015. Roy was born to parents Roy R. and Della Williams on December 4, 1921 in El Reno, OK. He came to Las Vegas in 1977, and worked as the District Manager for Halliburton Services for 30 yrs. Roy proudly served his country in the US Army Air Force during WWII as a Gunner / Radio Man, where he played the trumpet in the Air Force Band and was a prior American Legion Post Commander. He was a Charter member of Green Valley Baptist Church, where he was active in the Music Ministry. Roy enjoyed music, whether he was listening to Dixieland, dancing along to it or playing his trumpet. He played TAPS for various occasions at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Roy was personable and social, and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his son, Tommy (Marsha) Williams of Bartow, FL; daughter, Candi (Bill) Chavez of Orange, CA; son, Rob Williams of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons, Tommy Joe (Kim) Williams of South Lake,TX, David Chavez of Orange, CA, and Brett (Crista) Chavez of Ladera Ranch, CA; granddaughters, Natalie Welch of TX, Tonya Williams of Orlando, FL, and Lisa (Albert) Barlow of Santee, CA, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Floy Dixon; wife, Doris Williams; and brothers, Ray Williams and Elwood Williams.
A Visitation will be held Fri. (6/12) from 5-7 PM at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Funeral services will be held Sat. ( 6/13) at 4 PM at Green Valley Baptist Church, 270 N. Valle Verde Dr., Henderson. The Graveside committal will take place Mon. (6/15) at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City where there will be a ""fly over"" by a P51-Mustang Vintage WWII plane, piloted by Roy's grandson Major General Tommy J.
