Rufino Jose Belmonte Jr

Rufino Jose “J.R.” Belmonte, Jr. was a wonderful, kind, and inspirational person. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who would be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was 85 years old in Henderson, Nevada, and joined our Creator on October 07, 2024. He was predeceased by his son, Jerry Belmonte. 

He was strong, traditional, profound, insightful, smart, engaging, opinionated, humorous, reserved, handsome, determined, protective, strong-willed, and cherished. He demonstrated exceptional supportiveness, calmness, and composure with his friendly and witty demeanor making him an exemplary family man and a dedicated husband. 

J.R. is survived by his loving wife, Felicitas, his children, Rufino Anthony, III (Dell) Belmonte, Peter-Paul (Rendall) Belmonte-Ho, and Catherine Paula (Nathaniel) Mendoza, his adored sister Dolores (Serecio) Negrosa, his nephew Joseph (Adrianne) Negrosa, their children, Nicholas and Alexandra Negrosa, and his niece Maria Jocelyn (Everardo) Estrada and their children Brandon and Sophia Estrada. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, of whom he was extremely proud: Shannelle Brittani (Patrick) Santiago, Kassidie Noelle Belmonte, Christian Nicholas (Samantha) Cabiltes-Mendoza, Adam Francis Belmonte, Anthony James Belmonte, and Cameron Nathaniel Mendoza, and a great granddaughter, Charlotte Isla Santiago. 

J.R. was born on May 8, 1939, in Manila, Philippines where he spent his formative years. He migrated to the United States with his family in 1979, living in the San Fernando Valley in California. They moved to Las Vegas after that. He was a mail handler at the U.S. Post Office. Throughout his job, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. 

J.R. enjoyed playing tennis and golf, watching basketball, hockey, baseball, football, and the news. In his free time, he had a profound interest in horse racing and was always enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with others. 

J.R. is an animal lover, he had a soft spot for their furry friends, treating everyone like the valuable family member they were. He enjoyed Mika’s, a Maltipoo, and Ouji’s, a Boodle, company and both enjoyed his companionship. 

But more than anything, J.R. was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, sharing stories, and enjoying their company. He was always there to guide, support, and encouragement, regardless of their challenges.
