Samuel Ralph DeLillo,""The Hawk,"" 90, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. He was born Nov. 11, 1924 in New Castle, PA to his mother Frances Aicone and father Joseph DeLillo. Sam served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an ambulance driver and medic in the 425th division. He was honorably discharged due to a combat injury. Sam loved to play softball, golf, and enjoyed all things Las Vegas as a long time resident. He had a variety of jobs in many of the early hotel/casinos including retail sales and worked security at the Tropicana hotel for 29 years until his retirement in 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Rita Mele DeLillo, and brother Joseph DeLillo. He is survived by his brother Donald DeLillo, and great nephew Adrian (Yvette) Conte and family, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Diamond Retirement Living for their wonderful care of Sammy. He will be laid to rest on February 6, 2015. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by Catholic service at 1:00, and graveside burial at 2:00 (full military honors) at Davis Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
