Samuel Henry Gordon III

Samuel Henry Gordon III, 67, passed away on September 16, 2016 at Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. Sam was born to Eleanor A. Grieco and Samuel Henry Gordon Jr. in Middlebury, VT on December 15, 1948. Happily married for 44 years to his best friend and loving wife Diane Z. Gordon.

Sam attended H.C. Wilcox in Meriden but left just prior to graduation to join the U.S. Army and served his country honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him a Purple Heart and Bronze Medal while serving in the 25th Infantry Division. Sam retired after working 28 years as a Metallurgist at Ulbrich Stainless Steel.

Sam enjoyed playing cards, billiards, softball, bowling and golf. He loved Motown music and was known for excellent moves on the dance floor for many years. An avid sports enthusiast, Sam was a diehard Yankees and New York Giants fan. Sam volunteered time to St. Joseph's Parochial School to coach softball and basketball. He also served as President of the Sunday Morning Bowling Mixed League in Wallingford. Sam will be remembered by his many groups of friends - T-Bowl family, Tom's Place, American Legion and Ulbrich Family.

Sam was survived by his wife, Diane Z. Gordon and seven siblings, Kenneth G. Gilmore (Sandy), Donna L. Miller (James), Diana L. Gordon, Michael A. Gordon, Susan K. Impronto (Thomas), Shirley A. Grieco, Harold F. Grieco Jr. Also surviving are children, Samuel Henry Gordon IV (Tiffany) and Teisha D. Diaz (Jorge) as well as grandchildren, Kelsey Diaz, Vanessa Diaz, Samuel Henry Gordon V, Jazmin Diaz and Melena Gordon, and numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He is Preceded in death by the late Eleanor Grieco and the late Samuel H. Gordon Jr.

Services will be held at Davis Funeral Home (6200 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89119) on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Gordon Family would be appreciated.
