""My Heavenly Father called my name - Samuel Toston, Jr. entered this life on August 24, 1931, in Epps, LA. and made his transition April 21, 2015, in Las Vegas, NV. This dedicated school teacher of 35 years, who taught and retired from the Orleans parish school system, gladly responded to his Master's call. Samuel dedicated his life to Christ at a very early age. He practiced his faith and encouraged others to believe in the power of prayer. He is the oldest of eight siblings of Sam and Myrtle Lee Toston. He is a proud graduate of Southern University (Baton Rouge, LA) in 1954, and of Louisiana State University (New Orleans) in 1963. Upon retiring in 1997, Samuel moved to Riverside, CA; in 2006, he relocated to Las Vegas. He was a dedicated role model and mentor for the youth; a Sunday School Teacher and Scout Master. Sam served honorably in the United States Army for three years. Three brothers and four sisters grew up with him and shared his life, they are: Simon, Lee Edward, and Roosevelt Toston, Emma King, Sweetie King, Mary Freeman, and Frances Toston. Three of the above named: Simon, Emma, and Frances, have preceded him in death. Other siblings are brothers: Lenard, Sirel, and Dave Toston (all deceased), sisters: Madeline Thomas (deceased), Jewel Sierra (Vincent), Dorretha Bams (Willie), and Velma Avery. ""
