Sharon Marie Glassman, 67, long time resident of Las Vegas passed away on April 29, 2011 after a ten year battle with Alzheimers Disease.
Sharon was born in Crete, Nebraska, the fourth of eleven children of Arthur A. and Marie A. Aksamit on November 8, 1943. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William M. Glassman as well as an older brother Richard Aksamit.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Smith and Jeanie Cox, and one son, William Robert Glassman. She also had ten grandchildren and nine siblings who admire her strength and courage.
Sharon spent several years in Omaha, Nebraska as an elementary school teacher and working in the insurance field before making her way to Las Vegas where she worked in the Accounting Payroll Department of the Union Plaza Hotel Casino.She enjoyed playing the piano, reading and doing crossword puzzles during her free time and was an excellent volleyball player in her youth. Whenever possible, she would be found volunteering her time and energy towards charities that touched her heart, including the American Cancer Society.
She will be admired for her generosity, her nurturing abilities, compassion and enormous patience. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she will be laid to rest with her parents at Lincoln Memorial Park.
