Sharron Rae Hoffmans, 74, a retired accountant, of Henderson, passed away June 22, 2012. She was born Dec. 29, 1937, in Ottawa, Kan. She was a resident of Wichita, Kan., in her early years and a student at East High School and then graduated from Kansas University three years later, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married her husband, Connie, August 1958 in Bermuda. She returned to the U.S. in 1959 and worked in accounting, becoming certified as a public accountant in 1960. In 1961, she moved to Corning, N.Y., in 1961, and continued working and furthering her education in Pennsylvania, Arizona and El Paso, Texas, where she started her teaching career. While teaching, she continued her education and received her MBA in 1975 from the University of Texas at El Paso, UTEP. She took a leave of absence from UTEP and entered Oklahoma State University and received her Doctorate in Accounting in 1991. She returned to UTEP to continue teaching as a professor until her retirement in 1998. She moved to Henderson to shorten the distance to visit family in California. She was a good mother to her sons and a family provider. She was an avid bridge player at all levels, a reader, and she liked any work puzzles and Sodoku. She was preceded in death by her parents, Halbur and James D. Dye and her sister, Sheila Ward. Survivors include her husband sons, James and Charles and their wives Kerry and Kim grandchildren, Krista, Erika, Colton and Courtney niece, Dana Day and numerous relatives and friends.
