Shirley K. Takahashi

Shirley K. Takahashi, long-time resident of Maui and Las Vegas, passed away on Sept. 25, 2023 at the age of 83 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She was born in October of 1939 on the island of Maui to Genji and Tsurue Koga.

was a nurse for over 30 years, and later, hospital administrator for Kula Hospital.  After retiring from healthcare, she moved to Las Vegas with her husband Terry.  She enjoyed her retirement with video poker, bingo, and making new friends at Curves.  She loved having family and friends visit so she could take them out to eat.  Not to be one to stop working completely, she volunteered her time, every January through April, helping others with their taxes.

Shirley is survived by her brothers, Chester Koga and Randall Koga; sons, Kevin and Eric; daughter, Sheri; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; and her brother, Wallace Koga.  She will be taken to her final resting place in Kula.

A memorial service will be held at Makawao Hongwanji Buddhist Temple on November 4th at 2:00pm.  Family and friends are welcome to attend.
