From the moment Stephen Metaxas entered this world July 1, 1991, he was an adventurous soul with enough passions for any two lives, and was taken too soon on December 6, 2016 at the very young age of 25. Born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee; Stephen brought a love for Christ, nature, and the outdoors with him here to Las Vegas alongside his family in 2005. He is a graduate of Coronado High School and attended classes at CCSN for two years. Stephen is survived by parents, June & Tassos Metaxas and brother, Paul Metaxas, along with innumerable family and friends.
It would be safe to say Stephen touched as many lives as passions he held, empowering everyone around him with his limitless generosity and sensationally original thoughtfulness. Stephen led a life full of inspiration with a profound love, understanding, and creation of music including playing many instruments; and enjoyed the vast beauty of hiking and motorcycling through our great outdoors. His multifaceted talents included things as unique as being an accomplished unicyclist and decorative welder, as well as a newfound admiration and joy of painting and photography.
He greatly cherished his time held as a barista at Starbucks, making so many friends with colleagues and customers alike. Stephen enjoyed taking part in youth worship groups, and attending the church where his father pastors, as well as other local area ministries. Ultimately, he wanted painting to be the vessel for his ministry. Creativity blossomed where his hands and heart touched.
But no matter how fervently he chased his passions, Stephen always made time for small and large wonderfully loving gestures for those around him, touching lives on a daily basis. He would have wanted everyone to know, he left this life doing what he loved. He is already dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life in his honor will be held at Davis Funeral Home at 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119 with viewing and visitation from 3pm-5pm on Sunday December 11, 2016 and a Celebration of Life Service on Monday from 11am-12pm on December 12, 2016.
Condolences may be sent to the Metaxas family at 2763 Kindeace Avenue, Henderson, NV 89044.
