Tally Jeanne Cobb Gordon
Tally Jeanne, peacefully passed away on Saturday February 15th at 10:25 a.m. surrounded by all members of her loving family.
Tally was born on May 6th, 1938, in Chicago, IL. She attended Catholic schools in Chicago for the majority of her education. After college, where she majored in science, she met and married Jerome Gordon in 1962. She and her husband, Jerry, as she lovingly referred to him, came to Las Vegas to visit Tally's mom, in 1962... They loved the desert and the Las Vegas area so well that they decided to buy a house and settle in Nevada.
Tally got her first job in Las Vegas as a lab technician at St. Rose De Lima Hospital. Soon after her move to Las Vegas, it was time to start a family. In subsequent years, she gave birth to three wonderful children. Dawn, Jerry, and Tally, the "baby". As the family grew, Tally realized that she needed to bring in more income. She decided to switch gears and take the glamorous job as a Camera Girl on the strip at Caesar's Palace for Cashman photo. She loved her job and was one of the longest standing employees, her tenure May 1, 1970- November 18, 2015. She also was recognized by the Mayor of Las Vegas for her outstanding work.
Her ever driving goal was to best provide for her children. She was a complete success at her job. And no wonder; visitors seeking a photo souvenir while visiting Las Vegas could not resist her glamour, captivating smile, and cheerfulness. Without effort, her smile was magical along with a gentle little laugh that made it irresistible to laugh with her.
She was comfortable with her natural, graceful beauty. She had a long, slender, willowy figure that reminded one of a long-stemmed, yellow rose with her golden blond hair. Her unpretentious love for all people was well-known to her family, all her friends, and co-workers alike. Her generous love extended to all animals as well. She had many pets that she rescued, loved and provided for like her children.
Tally took her job as a photographer seriously and with responsibility. She endeavored to take the best photos possible of the guests she served. She understood that these souvenirs were lasting reminders for generations to come.
Although her job was glamorous and rewarding, Tally's first priority was to her family. As a mom, she was wholly and completely devoted to the welfare and comfort of her children. She served as all things to them; teacher, social guide, spiritual leader, counselor, doctor, and often a chauffeur. She also stood for the anchoring force of sincere love in the family. She will be fondly remembered for sharing little gifts for her children, always with their different preferences in mind.
Through all these responsibilities, she had an amazing sense of humor and a bit of sarcasm along with a touch of stubbornness thrown in. This gave her a wonderful and unique character.
Tally's early years were firmly anchored in the Catholic church and Christian beliefs. She continued her faith in these beliefs with her compassion, generosity, laughter, love, and words to all living things, until her passing. She truly made our world a better place for all she touched. She will be sorely missed, but not without memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome Gordon in 1993. She is survived by her daughters Dawn Michelle Gordon, and Tally Jeanne Gordon Jr., "Baby", son Jerry Randall Gordon, and son-in-law, Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Gordon, who showed fervent devoted love and care for her throughout her years of illness. She is also survived by her brother, Lloyd Cobb, and four grandchildren, Jesse, Katie, Rebecca, and Adam, and two great-grandchildren Kaysee and Jesse Jr. She also leaves behind her loving dog, Shadow and her Stratosphere rescue kitty, Strat.
