Thelma Lee Montgomery

July 7, 1925 — October 26, 2021

In his infinite wisdom and gentle grace, Almighty God reached down from heaven and whispered ever so quietly to one of His children these words:

"Come with me, my daughter, for it is time to go home."

So, on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021, God closed the eyes of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and church member, Thelma Lee Montgomery.

Thelma Lee Griffin was born to Maggie and Oscar Griffin on July 7th, 1925, in Clarksdale, MS. She was delivered by her grandmother, Nancy Griffin.   Thelma accepted Christ at an early age and excelled in her studies. She married McKinley Harris, and they relocated to Gary, IN. She was a loving mother to Lyvonne, McKinley (Patricia), Leon, Gerard, Elaine, Rupert, Stephanie, Patricia, Oscar, and Victor.  McKinley Harris Sr. preceded her in death. She later married Aaron Montgomery.

God blessed Thelma with numerous gifts: cooking, decorating, reading, and sharing the gospel. She especially enjoyed preparing family dinners, reading Christian literature, watching Christian TV, and listening to gospel music.

During her lifetime, Thelma lived in several states.  Everywhere she lived, she was blessed to find a church family.  Remnant Ministries became her final church family, where she was very loved. During her declining years, her loving church family visited her regularly.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons: McKinley (Patricia), Leon, Oscar, and Victor; her daughters: Elaine and Patricia, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

Rest well, Granny-Girl
