Thelma Estelle Straight

Thelma Estelle Straight, 83, a home maker of Las Vegas, passed away June 16, 2011. She was born December 25, 1927 in New Castle, Texas near Ft. Worth. She is survived by her dearly beloved husband Harry Wayne Straight of the home her niece Patricia Ann Hall, and children of Ft. Worth, Texas step daughter Linda Lauterbach and family of Burleson, Texas and grandson, William Hicks of Waco, Texas.

She had been a resident of Las Vegas 1989. Her parents were the late Claudia E. Mayes and Ruth Marie Mayes Nee Massey, of Texas. She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Eileen Autrey.

Thelma Estelle Straight died in the hope of resurrection at the second coming of her Lord, Jesus Christ. She and her husband joined the Las Vegas Mountain View Seventh Day Adventist church in June of 2000 and have been active members since 2000. On her last day, she was able to acknowledge her husband Wayne caressing her hand and head as they said their last good bye at 3:30 pm June 16, 2011. Her daughter read and prayed with her from that time until 11:40 pm that evening when she finally gave up during prayer and being held by the loving hands of Linda. She was also ministered to briefly by readings and prayer during the evening by Tiera Wallace, a close friend.

She was entirely devoted to her loving husband, and her family members and her pet animals. Her husband has been retired for over 15 years. Prior to that, she and her husband enjoyed living in several cities around the country where he was employed in administration and other activities for Aircraft, Shipbuilding and Nuclear Power.

Thelma has been in declining health in recent years and this required almost constant need of her husbands care.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on June 20, 2011, in the new Chapel at the Love Mausoleum at the Davis Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6200 South Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada. Interment will be across the street from the Chapel.

Pastor Bruce Norman, of Henderson, a long time friend of Wayne and Thelma, will be officiating.
