Thomas Ernest Jacobson, MD
Thomas Jacobson, MD, 90, of Henderson, Nevada passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 25, 2022, after a five-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was a practicing physician for 58 years (1956 – 2014), as a board-certified cardiologist.
Born on August 8, 1931 in Berlin, Germany, he was the son of the late Max Jacobson, MD, and Alice (“Litzi”) Jacobson He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, his three children, Gail (Fred), Lauren and Randy, his two step-sons Michael (Julie), Timothy (Kim) and his nine grandchildren, Lizzy (Daniel), Samantha (Mike), Matt, Michelle, and David, Ashlynn, Chase, MacKenzie, Gracie and his two great grandchildren, Jacob and Adam.
In 1933, young Tommy with his immediate family fled Nazi Germany from Berlin to his maternal grandparents’ home in Prague (Czechoslovakia at the time) and shortly thereafter moved to Paris, France where he remained until 1940. In early 1940, now a young grade school kid, young Tommy, caught one of the last available boats to America with his mother, fleeing Nazi Germany once again, reuniting with his father in New York City several weeks later, where he would spend the rest of his grade school years.
Thomas graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, N.Y., and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He then attended Howard University Medical School, graduating in 1956. After completing his residency in cardiology, he moved to Los Angeles in 1962, where he started in private practice and remained until 1995. In 1995, he moved to Southern Nevada, continuing to work in private practice over the next 19 years and then retiring in Henderson, Nevada.
From a very young age, he wanted to be a doctor and, Dr. Jacobson achieved this objective through hard work, passion, and determination. and will fondly be remembered for his strong work ethic, good heart, and high integrity. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
