Tina Tran Oda, late of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 19, 2023 in her nursing home early that morning.
Tina was born on August 18, 1935 in North Vietnam. At the age of 16, she fled to South Vietnam to find solace. Tina was a refugee during the Vietnam War and worked hard to bring her children to the United States, despite not knowing any English. She was renowned for her sense of humor and cheerful presence, often making a room glow with her laughter. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and she was always willing to do whatever to takes to provide for them. Tina had a long, successful career as a blackjack dealer. She also enjoyed going out to eat, dancing, and traveling, whether it be a quick road trip or a long journey overseas. Tina was a fan of treating herself, and was known for her extravagant fashion sense.
Tina is survived by her son Tien; daughter Tammy; son Jackson; son Richard; and her five grandchildren. Tina was preceded in death by her husband John Oda; her son Tan Tran; her son Thinh Tran; and her partner Rusty Church.
Family and friends are invited to honor the life of Tina on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023.
Visitation will be held from 8am to 10am, followed by a funeral service from 10am to 11am.
The burial will take place from 11am to 11:30am at Davis Memorial.
