Una May Hopper, 94, died Friday, February 2, 2024, at a local assisted living facility.
Una was born in Lester, Iowa on January 11, 1930, the daughter of Claus and Elsie (Wulf) Claussen. She graduated from Lester High School where she was a cheerleader.
She married Billy Joe Hopper in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked and he was serving in the Army in 1952. Afterwards, they moved to Memphis where he attended dental school. They also lived for a short time in Shawnee Oklahoma, Reno Nevada, and Ann Arbor Michigan so her husband could perform Public Health work while she worked in various government and other positions. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada permanently in 1962.
Una was actively involved in numerous organizations and held various jobs until finding that working in real estate was most rewarding. She continued working in real estate most of her life. Even in her later years, she remained active with organizations, volunteering at hospitals, going on senior outings, and caring for sick friends. She also enjoyed taking cruises around the world.
Those surviving her are her sons David Hopper, Steven Hopper, and Bradley Hopper, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Hopper, her brothers and sisters, and her grandson Michael Hopper.
