Vincent Francis Ricci, 76, a retired academic adviser from CSN, of Henderson, passed away April 16, 2012. He was born March 11, 1936 in Aliquippa, Pa., and was a 40year resident of Nevada.
Vince was the third child of Italian immigrant parents. He graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1954 and, like his father, went to work in the Pennsylvania steel mills. He knew he wanted a better life. While working nights, he went to Geneva College and received his bachelors degree in education in 1965. He got a teaching job and immediately started work on his masters degree.
In 1966, he married the love of his life, Mary Vagnoni. Then, in 1968, he finished his masters degree in counseling from Duquesne University. In 1972, he was offered a position as an academic adviser and to help open Clark County Community College now CSN in Las Vegas. He moved his family and established himself in the community by starting his own real estate company, Greentree Realty. He started the Italian language program at CSN. He substitutetaught for the Clark County School District, even after his retirement from CSN in 2004.
In addition to his work accomplishments, he was a member of the ItalianAmerican Club and the Augustus Society.
He was most proud of his lovely wife, Mary his two daughters three grandsons and, of course, his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Angelo Antonio and his mother, Maria.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Vagnoni Ricci daughter, Monica Ricci his three grandsons, Dominic, Devan, and Tony his daughter, Melissa Ancona his brother, Nick Ricci and his sister, Frances Beck.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.noon, Monday, April 23, with memorial services following, both at Green Valley Baptist Church, 270 N. Valle Verde Drive, Henderson. Graveside service at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
