Virgie Mae Billie Pierce, 80, a 52 year resident of Las Vegas, was called home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2013, at 3:15am.
Billie was born in Falfurrias, Texas on December 16, 1932. She was one of 14 children, 7 boys and 7 girls and one of two sets of twins. Billie was the third oldest of the girls. Her twin brother, Ray Jackson, made a habit of taking care of his little sister peanut.
The family moved around looking for work shortly after the Great Depression and the older children worked the cotton fields of East Texas until they were old enough to set out on their own.
Ironically, through her sister, Nell Price, Billie met her future husband and the love of her life, Brandon M. Tex Pierce, who was Bruce Prices childhood friend. In 1960, the two Texans were married and settled down in Las Vegas. Billie stayed home to raise their three children, Joan, Jeannie, and Olin, while Tex worked at a little startup Radio communications shop called Frontier Radio.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Brandon M. Pierce and daughter Joan Walbridge. Billie often joked regarding her husbands death, on mothers day, as stealing her show. Well, in vintage Pierce style and not to be out done, Billie got her revenge and passed away on Texs birthdayway to go MOM
Billie is survived by her two children, Jeanie Mike Lester of Las Vegas and Olin Doreen Pierce also of Las Vegas, Sisters Pat, Imogene, and Wanda of the DallasFort Worth Metroplex area with numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren Trina, Amy, Timmy, Brandon and Ashley of Las Vegas.
Billie believed in The Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior based on her faith alone in Christ alone apart from any and ALL works Acts 16:31 Ephesians 2:89. Billie knew there was nothing she could do to earn or deserve her salvation, it was a free gift from God with the result that she is now absent from the body and face to face with the Lord, Jesus Christ. Therefore, a celebration of her promotion to Heaven and her life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 3:00pm, at Growing in Grace Church of Las Vegas, www.lvggc.org , located at 6920 Edna Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada, 89117.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that a donation be given to the Alzheimers Foundation of America or the COPD Foundation.
