Wallace Howell

July 5, 1920 — September 21, 2019

Wallace Edwin Howell was an only child, born on his mother’s birthday, July 5, 1920, in Lampasas, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2019, at the age of 99 in Sacramento, California.

Wally was a pioneer Aerospace engineer specializing in hermetically sealed connectors in vehicles for space travel. Later he became a consultant in the manufacture of parts needed for the new spacecraft industry. He traveled so much that he received plaques from major airlines in appreciation of his valuable contribution to air transport progress, the development of air transportation and national airpower, and the development of the airline industry. He belonged to the United Air Lines Half Million Miler Club; was a member of the TWA International Ambassadors Club; was a Lifetime Member of the Continental Air Lines Presidents Club, and was a member of the Admirals Club as a commissioned Admiral of the Flagship Fleet.

He also didn’t miss his chance to ascend to the sky in a Balloon.

After retiring, he stayed busy with various work projects as well as volunteering for the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife, always finding a new adventure. He later travelled with other family members into his Nineties. He liked to go fishing.

He liked the San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints. He liked to watch MASH but mostly, he never tired of watching a good John Wayne western.

His favorite color was blue, as were his eyes. His favorite flower was the Fuschia.

He is survived by his children Sandra (Paul), Ross (Barbara), Karen (Michael), Shelley (Joe); 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

He says he is going to Heaven to hold the hand of Corine, his wife of 60 years.  They met and married in Texas in 1941. He liked to buy her Orchids and her favorite yellow roses. He is also preceded by his son Randy.

Wallace/Wally/Dad/Grampie will be greatly missed by all family and friends who knew and loved him.
