William Jacobs

William Robert Jacobs (Bill), 77, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on April 11, 2020, in Las Vegas. Bill was born in San Francisco, CA, to William C. and Holice Jacobs on November 23, 1942. He grew up in Holton, KS, and was a graduate of Holton High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, a master’s degree in business administration from Montana State University, and a master’s degree in economics from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was a member of the Triangle Fraternity while attending Kansas State.

Bill served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years and was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM, Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT, Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA, and the Nevada Test Site north of Las Vegas, NV. While in Albuquerque, he met Laura Jane Lambert (Jane). They were wed on November 30, 1968, at chapel 2 at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the government contractor Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in Las Vegas for 19 years.

He is best remembered for his home entertaining with Jane, gracious hospitality, and storytelling. He loved to travel, spend time with family, and care for the family basset hounds. His hobbies included being a model railroad enthusiast, working on his cars, solving crossword puzzles, and enjoying music.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his son, Christopher Jacobs of Henderson, NV, daughter Kim Brown Sims of Napa, CA, and granddaughter Mikenna Sims of Sacramento, CA.

Graveside Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am, Monday, April 20, 2020, at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV. Burial will follow. Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Homes and Memorial Park.
