Col. William M. Rainwater (Ret.) passed away on July 6th surrounded by family and his loving wife, Joyce. Born in Albuquerque, NM in 1932 to Otis and Bessie Rainwater he was raised in Texas by his mother after his father died when he was four. At the age of 89, William had led an extraordinary and full life.
William was an Eagle Scout, attended Texas A & M, transferred to Texas Christian where he joined the ROTC, he graduated with a BA in Economics and entered the Air Force as a 2nd. Lieutenant. He later was accepted into Harvard where he attained an MBA. After a distinguished Air Force career serving in communications/electronics in many countries, he retired and ventured on a second career teaching finance and accounting at the graduate and undergraduate level as an adjunct professor, in both the US and abroad.
William is survived by four of his five children – Michael (TX), Charles (VA), Christine (VA), Evan (NV) and three grandchildren (Tiffany, Jason and Julianne). Daughter Tracy preceded him in death.
William’s mantra was to live life to the fullest. He had a passion for motorcycles, and raising and showing poodles. He also was a lover of travel, the theatre, wine and fine dining, live music, dancing, and was an avid reader. He added caring and friendship to many people.
The funeral service will take place at Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV, on Friday, July 23rd at 1:20 pm.
