Chapman, Roger Kevin
Las Vegas, NV
Age 61 died January 28th, 2023, at his home in Las Vegas, NV.
Roger Kevin Chapman was born on October 23, 1961, in Henderson, Nevada to Roger and Virginia (Youngblood) Chapman.
Roger “Kevin” Chapman graduated from Western High School in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1979. Kevin had a strong love for music. He played rhythm guitar and was lead vocalist in the 80’s band “Nexxt of Kin” where he was known for his strong vibrato. As a song writer he co-wrote the song “Heavenly Valley” and “Perfect one” just like the true bravado he is.
He worked as a carpenter and was part of the Las Vegas Painters union for most of his life. He was a great craftsman and had the great ability to do many things with his hands over the years. Kevin “Papa Vegas” Chapman enjoyed all his grandchildren whenever he got the chance to. He was a huge help to his mother, Virginia Gunn in the past several years helping as a caregiver to her husband, Willard Gunn. Kevin was a selfless and giving person who loved spending time with both his boys and their children. Kevin touched so many lives with his welcoming heart and cared more about others than himself, loving his friends and family more than life itself. He will always be remembered for the way he lived life to the fullest and not for how he left us. There is no doubt his friends and family will have a huge void to fill but will rest easy knowing Kevin is with God and his sister, Lorinda, pain free and watching over his loved ones.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Gunn, two sons Roger Scott (Layla) Chapman and Kevin Paul (Debbra) Chapman, 9 Grandchildren, Brother, Kellan (Tia) Chapman and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Roger Gettys Chapman and sister, Lorinda (Chapman) Gross.
A private memorial service will be held at the home of Virginia Gunn for family only on Friday, February 2nd, 2023.
